Oprah Winfrey looked amazing at the red carpet premiere of OWN’s “Queen Sugar” TV series. Oprah stunned in a body-hugging navy dress that spotlighted her 30-pound weight loss.
Oprah, who’s the executive producer of “Queen Sugar,” gushed that she has now lost enough weight that boyfriend Stedman Graham can actually carry her around in his arms.
“I’ve lost enough weight that he can pick me up and carry me to the pool,” Winfrey joked to People (see video).
“I can straddle him without breaking his back.”
The 5-foot-7 Oprah, who once tipped the scales at 237 pounds, has struggled with weight for decades.
Now 62, Winfrey said her weight loss secret was the Weight Watchers diet, cardio exercise, and meditation, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.
Winfrey said losing weight was easier this time, thanks to the Weight Watcher’s diet, which focuses on portion control and a point system.
“Weight Watchers has given me the tools to have accountability to myself,” said Winfrey.
Oprah also works out almost every day, doing yoga and cardio exercise on the treadmill or elliptical trainer.
Winfrey said meditation is also an important part of her weight loss program, and recently held a free meditation workshop with Dr. Deepak Chopra.
Dr. Chopra lost 20 pounds with meditation, mindful eating and yoga.
Chopra said meditation promotes natural weight loss by reducing stress.
Stress disrupts the appetite regulating hormones ghrelin and leptin, and causes belly fat storage.
Reducing stress is a natural, effective way to lose weight, said Dr. Chopra.
Deepak discussed other weight loss, happiness and meditation secrets in his bestseller, What Are You Hungry For?
Among the weight loss tips Deepak Chopra shared include the following:
- Recognize when you’re feeling emotional.
- Don’t eat when you feel negative emotions like guilt, shame or anger.
- Only eat when you’re physically hungry.
- Don’t multitask while eating.
- Avoid processed foods.
- Eat organic whenever possible.
- Try meditation. Sit quietly for 10-15 minutes to clear your mind.
