Kate Upton showed off her hot bikini body on Instagram along with several videos of herself lifting heavy weights during cross-training workouts.
While Upton was repeatedly told to lose weight at the start of her career, the buxom blonde beauty has proven that curves are beautiful.
Kate was mercilessly fat-shamed by modeling agents who nagged her to lose weight to look the prototypical size 0 anorexic model, but she refused, and her career has thrived.
“[I was told to lose weight] All. The. Time,” Upton told Glamour. “At first I tried to diet to become their image, but eventually I realized that it wasn’t realistic, that this is just the shape of my body.”
Kate continued: “So I had to block them out. I think the people who are the loudest about wanting to change you are the people with the least amount of vision and creativity.”
While Upton isn’t concerned with being super-skinny, she does have to diet and exercise to stay in shape for as a top model.
Kate’s bikini weight loss secrets are a low carb, gluten-free, Paleo-style diet, yoga and weightlifting workouts, as Celebrity Health Fitness has reported.
“I try to do a sugar-controlled diet and eat lots of protein and veggies,” said Upton. “But if I’m craving something, I’ll just have it.”
The Paleo diet limits processed foods, sugar, and emphasizes non-starchy vegetables and high-quality proteins like wild salmon, grass-fed beef, real butter and pastured eggs.
Other celebrity Paleos include Jessica Alba and Victoria’s Secret supermodel Adriana Lima, who’s sexier than ever after two kids.
The Paleo diet works well for women because it reduces the blood-sugar spikes and hormone surges that fuel overeating, mood swings and weight gain, said Esther Blum, author of Cavewomen Don’t Get Fat.
Kate Upton’s workout routine includes cardio exercise and weight training.
Weightlifting can help women get the lean, toned bikini body they always wanted without looking bulky or masculine, said Michael Matthews, author of Thinner Leaner Stronger.
“[My trainer Ben Bruno and I] do weight training with cardio in the circuit, said Upton.
Kate also does yoga to stay emotionally centered and to sculpt lean, toned muscles.
Yoga is anti-aging and promotes natural weight loss by reducing stress, building lean muscles and suppressing appetite, said Tara Stiles, author of Yoga Cures.
While she used to exercise before to lose weight or look good, Kate now enjoys working out because it makes her feel good.
“I used to work out to have my hips be a certain size,” said Upton. “Now I do it for myself, because I want to be strong. I want to have energy. Oh, and I want a nice butt, and if it’s a quarter inch bigger than the modeling-world standard, that’s fine.”
