Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are still working through the details of their divorce, but all of the tabloid rumors about acrimonious battles and nasty fights are either unsubstantiated or untrue. The court has allowed the couple to work in strict privacy.
According to the latest reports the super secret negotiations have been “very amicable” and both are apparently happy with the judge.
They’ve filed a motion asking the court to extend the “temporary judge” in their case, according to gossip site TheBlast.
One potential sticking point came up last year. Brad wants joint-custody. Under their temporary custody agreement, he only has visitation rights.
Among the tabloid rumors reported last year, where claims the couple had put their divorce on hold. That touched off speculation they may have been trying to reconcile.
But the latest court maneuvering suggests those reports were untrue.
“Both sides are hashing out both child custody and property settlements, and the divorce is full steam ahead,” a source told the Web site.
“A reunion is incredibly unlikely… First and foremost, it’s about money. They have so many properties and so many areas their pre-nup doesn’t cover. For instance, Brad wants to keep their estate in France and keep up their wine brand, while Angie wants to sell the property and use it all for charity. Also, Brad has a collection of early 20th century furnishings that’s worth about $10 million, and Angelina wants that sold, too. The list goes on and on and the lawyers are in stalemate.”
The 42-year-old actress filed for divorce from the 54-year-old star in 2016 but the custody of their children, Maddox, 16, Pax, 14, Zahara, 13, Shiloh, 11, and nine-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne , and the distribution of their assets could take months to work out.
Jolie is reportedly putting off dating for “a very long time” after three failed marriages and six children.
Three are natural born with Pitt and three are adopted. The kids are her focus now, she says.
