High-Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT for short, has been proven to deliver the same results as traditional workouts in just a fraction of the time, according to a 2001 study by Jeffrey W. King of East Tennessee State University.

Essentially, HIIT involves short periods of intense exercise followed by short breaks. The routine raises resting metabolic rate for as much as 24 hours so fat-burning continues well after exercise time is over.

Spears’ favorite HITT exercise is spinning. Cycling pace and resistance levels change constantly. Typically, a spin routine might involve up to a minute of full-speed biking at moderate to high resistance levels followed by a similar cool-down period at low resistance.

There are as many HITT routines as there are exercise. The idea is to vary the intensity of the workout.

Jackman, for example, follows another HITT variation known as the “Functional 45,” or F45 for short. It’s how he got so ripped for his “Wolverine” movies.

He’ll do up to 27 different exercises, with all performed in exactly 45 minutes.

The workout also changes daily to make sure all groups of muscles get a workout. The idea is to do as many possible squats in 20 seconds, then rest for 10 seconds. Repeat the routine for at least three sets.

When Johansson signed on to play Black Widow in the Marvel superhero movies, she had to look like a superhero. So she started following Tabata, a HIIT routine with origins in Japan.

Izumi Tabata, a professional at the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo developed the workout based on a 20-10 routine. That is, 20 seconds of all-out exercise, followed by 10 seconds of rest through a series of exercises.

The interval training can be applied to any number of exercises, which should very from upper to lower body and so forth.

Britney Spears, who turns 38 in December, maintains her performance ready bikini-body with a low carb diet, yoga workouts and cardio exercise, as TheImproper previously reported.

The pop princess said her body changed a lot after two pregnancies, but a low-carb diet combined with consistent exercise keeps her fit and controls her weight.

Low carb, high-fat diets like the Atkins and ketogenic diets accelerate weight loss by encouraging the body to burn fat for fuel, according to obesity expert Maria Emmerich, author of Quick and Easy Ketogenic Cooking.

Limiting carbs and eating more healthy fats curbs hunger, boosts energy and controls cravings, explained Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity and New Atkins For a New You.

Spears usually runs on the treadmill or an elliptical trainer at home to torch calories and keep her thighs and buttocks firm.

Other celebrities who have lost weight on a low carb diet include Kim Kardashian, who lost 80 pounds in 7 months on the Atkins diet, as TheImproper has reported.

The 5-foot-2 Kim, who weighed 200 pounds while pregnant, now weighs 120 pounds and has never felt better.
