Anna Kendrick, the bouncy star of such movies as “Up in the Air,” “Twilight,” and the “Pitch Perfect” series, says she “fell off the wagon super hard” and is no longer sticking to her vegan diet.

But Anna’s not the only celebrity who has abandoned the all plant-based diet.

Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson, who still looks fantastic at 56, says she’s still “basically vegan,” but confesses she indulges in chocolate and cream pie.

To true vegan advocates, however, there is no middle ground.

The ‘Pitch Perfect’ star followed a plant-based diet for almost two years, but said she couldn’t resist dairy products.

“I was vegan for a year, or maybe even two, and it was the best I’ve ever felt. Then I just fell off the wagon super hard. I was like, ‘Well, maybe I can just do vegan most days.’ But no. It was the classic slippery-slope situation,” Anna tells Shape magazine.

Anna’s biggest vice is “carbs and dairy,” Macaroni and cheese was the deal killer. “That’s the kind of life I’m all about. And I definitely do like sweets.

“‘Everything in moderation’ is such a cliché, I know, but it’s true. The times in my life when I tried to restrict the foods I love always backfired, and I ended up feeling miserable. For me, it’s all about really being present in my body, not depriving it.”

She says she tried to compensate for her cravings by baking a lot.

“Ironically, the only time I was put off by sweets was during the phase when I was baking, because I always felt like I’d eaten three pounds of brownies by the time I was done. So then I’d give the rest away.”

These days, the 34-year-old actress says she is “powered by ginger.”

“I keep wellness shots of ginger, lemon, and cayenne from Pressed Juicery in my fridge,” she explains. “If I’m traveling and I can’t have ginger, I’ll feel sick.”

Elle, who has sons Cy, 22, and Aurelius, 17, with former partner Arpad Busson, still eats as healthy as possible, and turns her nose up at meat, but will still indulge in the occasional treat.

“That’s the way I like to eat, but I do have a weakness for chocolate,” she says. “I love an espresso and I’m pretty good with a cream pie.”

“I eat three meals a day and I have two snacks, three snacks sometimes,” she adds. “I’m quite easy about my life because I think life is for living.”

Elle decided to overhaul her diet after turning 50 and realizing she wasn’t sleeping well or looking as good as she could.

“My hair, nails and skin were dry and damaged. I was putting on weight. I went to a nutritionist and I said, ‘Something’s not right.’ “She said, ‘Yeah, you’re doing the same things you did when you were 20.”

Elle went on a multi-vitamin and mineral probiotic, prebiotic, all-in-one greens super powder and said it changed her life.

“I know it sounds like a cliché that beauty comes from within, but in my experience it really is true. If you nourish yourself from the inside, and you really nourish yourself on a cellular level, it’s really going to show on the outside.

Ellen DeGeneres built a whole comedy routine around her struggles to maintain a vegan diet.

In her 2018 comedy special, “Relatable,” she admitted, after eight years of a strict plant-based diet, that she occasionally eats fish and eggs.

Anne Hathaway switched to a strict vegan diet in 2012 to get in shape for her role as Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises.”

She added fish back in her diet after eating salmon in a four star restaurant. “My brain felt like a computer rebooting,” she says.

Country singer Carry Underwood says she tried going vegan in 2013, but eventually modified her diet. She now says she’s a “practical vegan.” Um… that would be vegetarian, according to vegan advocates.

Duchess Meghan Markle was vegan at least on weekdays, if that counts.

“I’m conscious of what I eat. I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends,” she told Best Health magazine in 2015.

But during her whirlwind courtship and marriage to Prince Harry, she says she began eating meat again. She told British Vogue last year she cooked chicken with Harry and ate chicken tacos while she was pregnant with son Archie.

Angelina Jolie, ever the trend-setter, revealed in 2010 prior to the release of her action thriller “Salt” that she’d been a strict vegan “for a long time” but dramatically claimed that the diet nearly ended her life.

“I found I was not getting enough nutrition,” she said. “I joke that a big juicy steak is my beauty secret. But seriously, I love red meat.”
