Sarah Palin has learned the hard way that underplaying the danger of COVID-19 like many right-wing pundits, poses a serious risk to your health.
Fox News talking head Laura Ingraham continues to spread false information about the pandemic.
In her latest broadcast, she attacked Dr. Anthony Fauci and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) warning of an impending COVID-19 spike.
She called the warnings made-up propaganda and misinformation. But nothing could be further from the truth.
Palin, the former governor of Alaska, believe neither she nor her family were in danger of contracting the virus because of where they lived. But she issued a statement today revealing she and members of her family tested positive.
Palin, 57, has four other adult children, son Track and daughters Bristol, Willow and Piper, with her with ex-husband Todd Palin,
Trig, who has Downs Syndrome, caught the respiratory illness despite being the “most enthusiastic mask-wearer,” she revealed.
It proves anyone can get it and she urged her fellow Americas to continue to be vigilant in the fight against COVID-19.
“As confident as I’d like to be about my own health, and despite my joking that I’m blessed to constantly breathe in the most sterile (frozen!) air, my case is perhaps one of those that proves anyone can catch this,” she said in her statement.
“I strongly encourage everyone to use common sense to avoid spreading this and every other virus out there.
“There are more viruses than there are stars in the sky, meaning we’ll never avoid every source of illness or danger,” she continued.
“But please be vigilant, don’t be frightened, and I advise reprioritizing some personal time and resources to ensure as healthy a lifestyle as you can create so when viruses do hit, you have at least some armor to fight it.”
Palin said she first notice a problem when on of her daughters woke up and had no sense of taste or smell, a key symptom of the virus.
She tested positive for the virus and was quarantined. Then, she noticed Trig was displaying symptoms.
“I then observed symptoms in my son Trig, who curiously is the most enthusiastic mask-wearer, and after our numerous negative tests over the year, he tested positive,” she stated.
“Children with special needs are vulnerable to COVID ramifications, so with a high fever he was prescribed azithromycin, which really seemed to help, and I increased amounts of vitamins I put in his puréed food.”
After Trig tested positive, Palin said she also began experiencing symptoms overnight, including a slight fever and sore muscles.
She also lost her sense of taste and smell and she tested positive like millions of other Americans.
Palin, whose mother Sally Heath died in January at the age of 80, also revealed that her father Chuck Heath has had his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, something she is very happy and relieved about.
“I’m more concerned about him and his peers, and this beautiful older generation’s health and quality of life should be a national focus and priority,” she said.
Her comments were a stark contrast to Ingraham’s latest Fox News rant.
“The experts’ disinformation campaign is ongoing about COVID, even after vaccines,” she said on her show, “The Ingraham Angle” Wednesday.
“The variants! The variants are coming! The mutations! Gloom and doom!”
In the early days of the COVID-19 crisis, when President Trump was obfuscating and misleading the nation about the pandemic, Fox News was his echo chamber.
Fox News was a virtual COVID-19 criminal enterprise. Tucker Carlson, Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity stand out, but other talking heads were just as culpable.
Fox Business News host Lou Dobbs, Fox Five’s Jesse Watters, Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perrino and Jeanine Pirro parroted Trump’s outrageous claims about the disease. Add Geraldo Rivera and Tomi Lahren as well.
As late as this past December, Carlson declared the pandemic a “global fraud” perpetrated by China and exploited by powerful elites.
But it was their messaging early in the pandemic that is the most damning.
Trump and right-wing Fox News talking heads went absurdly overboard dismissing the danger of COVID-19, delaying the nation’s response to the pandemic for weeks and putting the lives of countless Americans at risk.
Their comments were clearly motivated–and likely coordinated–to prop up the president’s misstatements and to attack politically what Hannity frequently refers to as the “media mob” and Dobbs labels the “national leftwing media.”
More than 540,000 Americans have since died from complications related to the virus.
As many as 400,000 of those deaths could have been prevented if the Trump administration had acted quickly to stem the spread, according to Dr. Deborah Birx, the Trump White House coronavirus response coordinator.
